The PENN® Carnage™ III rods are truly in a class of their own. These rods represent the next generation of high-performance rod building with powerful, lightweight blanks that are also extremely durable. Our proprietary SLS3 blank construction provides a very thin diameter blank, while maintaining a lightweight feel which is ideal for heavier boat, jig, surf, and nearshore models. Spec’d with high-end components like Fuji® K-Guides, Sea-Guide® and Fuji® reel seats, and Rubber Shrink tube handles, this rod will be anglers’ next go-to workhorse.

Hits the Sweet Spot in the Carnage Spin Jig Lineup

I now own and use all three Carnage III Jig Spinning sticks and of the trio, the 6' Heavy (rigged with a Slammer IV 7500 DX) and the newly acquired 6'4" M/H (attached to a Slammer IV 6500) are appropriate for fall yellowfin and bluefin fishing. The 6' H model is better at straight-up jigging with metal up to 300 gr, whereas the lighter 6'4" model seems to work better with lighter jigs up to 220 gr, but really excels at slinging poppers and stick baits in the 2-to-4 oz range up to 60-yards away from the boat, which is its main purpose. Long rods and smaller boats just don't work well together and the 6'4" M/H Carnage III hits the sweet spot for both a capable jigging and casting stick. We'll see how it does on the 100-lb+ bruisers if I hook up with one soon.
